Lady of Ch’iao Kuo Warrior of the South

Princess Redbird of the Hsien lived during A.D 531in southern China. Laurence Yep and Scholastic Inc. brought Lady of Ch’iao Kuo Warrior of the South to life in New York and published this book in 2001.

Laurence Yep kept his tale as realistic as possible. Laurence wrote that the Chinese were very sociable and well mannered. I know this because when Princess Redbird was in the presence of her master’s daughter- in- law Redbird had to be very proper from her clothing to the way she sat. Also, The Chinese scholars admired their books as Laurence tells in the story. I’ve read one Chinese history book and every single detail that this author wrote about the Chinese was right.

Princess Redbird enjoys her Chinese books even though she is not Chinese. She drowns herself in writings of stories and ancient warriors. She is a very brave fifteen years old because she came up with deadly tragedies to defeat the dreadful Dog Heads who wish to take control of the Great Forest and the Chinese forts. These actions of Redbirds are very believable. Many warriors in great stories of fiction or nonfiction help others in grave parallel.

This book should have nothing changed because the story tells of a human fears and how this person pushes past the elements and feelings to protect her family and clan. This miraculous book is the best book I have ever read because it tells the truth of what can happen in politics if we are not careful about the choices we the people of the U.S. make
