Jahanara
Princess of Princesses
By: Kathryn Lasky
Jahanara Princess of Princesses by Kathryn Lasky takes place in India during 1627. The main character is Jahanara who is a princess who is very spoiled. Though being spoiled, Jahanara is a strong girl who faces many problems in her life including the death of her father and then her father coming back to life right before his funeral.
During this time in India Kathryn Lasky has made great connections to the story and kept it realistic. She never over exaggerated and described the land and setting so well I thought I was with Jahanara the whole time! I never got lost in the words!
The main character makes many wise decisions. One of the actions that had the biggest effect on her was when she took the baby out of the hands of the old poor woman on the side of the road. It made her take responsibility for her actions by her taking care of the child. The other action that affected her life was when she told her father about her brother working for the Snake. The action made her turn against her brother and doing what’s right! These actions are believable because she was doing what was right.
This book was amazing! It taught me how hard it was to be a princess in India during that time. Also how your family means more than gold and money. I didn’t like this book I loved it! I would recommend this book to everyone!
