Question- While you read, question what's happening. Searching for reasons behind events and characters' actions can help you get more involved in what you read.
Connect- Connect personally with what you're reading. Think of similarities between the descriptions in the selection and what you have personally experienced, heard, or read.
Predict- Try to figure out what will happen next and how the selection might end. Then read on to see if you made good guesses.
Clarify- Stop occasionally to review what you understand so far, and expect to have your understanding change and develop as you read on.
Evaluate- Form opinions about what you read, both while you're reading and after you've finished. Make judgments about the characters and develop your own ideas about events.
Visualize- Make a picture in your mind of what the text says. Imagine you are looking at what is describe.

summary:A girl and her father live alone because her mom died. They have a few thing of hers. So one day a bird steals a seal of her mothers so she gets the bird to go to it's nest so she can get the seal back. When she gets to the nest she finds a whole bunch of jewlery so she takes some. Then there are these hungry dogs trying to eat her then this boy comes to save her and take her home but she hurts her ankle when she jumps from the tree that the nest was in.
Strategy:I thinkthat the girl will get in trouble for takeing the jewels because her dad will get mad.

summary:The boy that saved her took her to his home and his father and sisters bandage her ankle up. Then a couple of days later they go to town to sell the jewels that she found to a blacksmith. On there way home they see a barge with a line of naked women with chains around there necks and with price tags on them.
strategy:I think that she will try to help one of the women because she tries to be kind.

summary:Flavia sells the jewels she finds. Then since it is here birthday she decides she is going to buy one of the younger slaves and take her home to get her out of slavery. At Flavia's party, she got a scrolled called,Aeneid. Since her friend didn't speak Latin only Greek. She decided to teach her from the scroll. One day, when they were teaching Nubia,"the slave", someone had broken into their neihbors house and cut off their dogs head and taken the head with them.They started to question people who might of seen something,one person did see a person with a bag that reminded him of a story,in the story a man cuts off the head of a monster and puts it in a bag.Then they asked the man if he had seen which way he had gone he did know he said he had gone toward the cemetary. They find the man and see that he was crying and very sad,they had brought there dog with them and the man that was crying said get the dog away from me or I will kill it. Later they found out that the mans daughter had from a dog biting her so she got rabies and died.
strategy: I think that her dog will get killed because the neibors dog got killed.

summary:The dogs that Jonathan saved Flavia from were back and they watched the dogs bark and growl at something in a tree it was a boy so Jonathans dad got a bow and arrow and shot the leader and another dog and the others ran off. the boy did not come down instead he was jumping from tree to tree a branch broke and the boy fell then they took him in and fed him bread after he ate the whole loaf they tried to get the boy to talk but then they relized he had no tounge. then they finally found out his name was Lupus
summary:I think the dogs will come back and kill her

Summary:After they get to know Lupus they tell him that Jonathans dog was killed so they asked him if he wanted to help them find out who it was he nodds yes.the next day they split up and lupus stays watch at avitus's house to see were he goes.
Strategy:I think that avitus did not kill the dog.
